On May 8th, Flisvos Marina successfully hosted the arrival event of the Trimaran IDEC SPORT as part of the THE ARCH program — “THE EUROPEAN EVENT TO ACCELERATE THE GREEN TRANSITION.” This is a major European initiative aiming to accelerate the “green” transition through a series of activities that showcase innovative solutions related to mobility, industry, energy, urban development, food, and agriculture. The ARCH program seeks to highlight 100 innovative European solutions that will speed up the implementation of ecological transition.
The stop in Greece was the 7th out of 10 planned stops, during which Mr. Stavros Katsikadis, Managing Director of LAMDA Marinas Investments and President of the Hellenic Marinas Association, presented the smart and sustainable solutions applied at Flisvos Marina. These include the supply of 100% of electricity from Renewable Energy Sources (RES), thereby eliminating greenhouse gas emissions, the installation of an electric vehicle charging station network, and the promotion of educational programs for the public on the “green” transition for marinas.
Mr. Katsikadis also emphasized that within the next two (2) years Flisvos Marina will transform into a model innovation center. The planned development projects to be completed by 2024 include the installation of 5G and fiber optic networks, the expansion of the electric vehicle charging network to parking areas and docks, as well as the installation of a photovoltaic system to generate a significant amount of electricity. An immediate goal is also the education and attraction of workforce to marinas, as this sector faces significant shortages that need to be addressed.
Among the attendees were Mr. Ioannis Fostiropoulos, Mayor of Paleo Faliro, Mr. Georgios Patoulis, Regional Governor of Attica, French Minister of Transport Mr. Clément Beaune, French Ambassador to Greece Mr. Patrick Maisonnave, and partners of Flisvos Marina.
The day after the event (May 9th), the ARCH team visited the Parthenon and the Acropolis Museum, followed by a reception at the French Embassy/Residence. On May 10th, the team departed for Malta, the 8th stop of the program.
